Hepatitis C / Anti-D Support Group

What we do

Postive Action is managed by an Executive Committee of 8 voluntary members assisted by a Delegate Structure of 19 voluntary members who are spread countrywide.

Executive Committee

The members of the executive committee are elected for a two year term and have to be re-elected at the end of their term. The executive committee meet monthly.

Members of the Executive:

  • Represent Positive Action on the
    - Counsultative Council
    - The National Forum on Hepatitis C
  • Attend meetings in The Hepatology Units
  • Attend Conferences
    - AASLD (American Association for the Study of Liver Disease)
    - EASL (European Association for the Study of the Liver Disease)
    - Mainliners (Support for Hepatitis C in England).
  • Speak at Conferences & Training programs.

Delegates

Delegates are split in to regions of the Health Service Executive.

These are :

  • Eastern Region Health Authority
  • Midland Health Board
  • Mid-Western Health Board
  • North Eastern Health Board
  • North Western Health Board
  • Southern Health Board
  • South Eastern Health Board
  • Western Health Board

Delegates have completed a two year training course and have refresher courses annually.

Delegates :

  • Organise meetings in local areas.
  • Filter problems, questions & updates to and from the executive.
  • Meet executive members on a number of occasions throughout the year to keep up to date with current news.
  • Attend workshops and conferences.
  • Assist the executive committee with the support to the members in their local areas.

Office

Our office, which is located at 56 Fitzwilliam Square Dublin 2, is open Monday to Friday 9am - 2pm where Deirdre is available to take calls and offer support to members.

Personal callers are welcome. All members are welcome to call into the office for a cuppa and a chat at any time. We now have quite a number of books and videos if anyone wishes to borrow them and lots of information on Hepatitis C.

We set up this website to assist in the advancement of education and learning and in particular to encourage, gather, extend, increase, disseminate and promote conduct and support research into all things connected with or incidental to Hepatitis C, and to exchange information ideas and advice concerning Hep C.
